Abstract

To address the issue of excessive flow resistance during the thermal management design and development phase of a side-mounted vehicle battery pack, the flow resistance values of individual liquid cooling plates were collected using a flow resistance simulation test system. It was found that the structural layout of the liquid cooling plate was the primary cause of the high flow resistance. To further optimize the flow resistance, the design structure of the liquid cooling plate was adjusted, while also ensuring that the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet remained below 10 ℃ . The study demonstrated that the optimized liquid cooling plate structure significantly reduced flow resistance without exceeding the 10 ℃ temperature difference limit. Additionally, the structural modifications to the liquid cooling plate simplified battery pack assembly and improved contact heat transfer accuracy. The problem of excessive flow resistance caused by the external shape of the liquid cooling plate was effectively resolved.
